Mom and dad are kissing again! (Well. Kavi and Rina. But.)
31 January, 2012
The moon is in the waxing Half (Philodox) Moon phase (55% full).

Rina's just returned from a shopping run; she and Kavi are stocking the cabinets.

Flint wanders down the hall from the bunkroom, pausing in the doorway of the breakroom, then pausing again one step inside. A grin forms on the cub's face, and he half-waves, though he also calls out and announces himself. "Hi, Kavi-rhya. Hi Rina."

Rina looks over her shoulder, and a smile dawns. "Hey," she offers.

Kavi reaches up to place the last of the cans on the top shelf. "I… I talked with Rori. She's new. Fianna—" He breaks off as Flint enters and looks across to him. "Hey," he says, as well, but then reaches for the box of cereal.

Flint ducks a nod before crossing over to the kitchen area, trying not to get in the way of Kavi or Rina but still trying to get to the cabinet, humming to himself, one of those fragmentary tunes.

"What'd'you need?" Rina asks.

"The Battle of Blue Ice Ravine," Kavi says to the cub as he puts the box away. He stops there, though, hesitating a moment before turning back to the others. "I've… I asked her to tell me about Stag. About what he likes."

Rina's brow furrows, and she looks to him. "Stag?"

"A glass?" Flint asks, tentatively, answering Rina's question and simply remaining on the edge of the kitchen area rather than get in the way. "Came to get some juice or something." A nod acknowledges the identification of the tune, though Flint does keep humming while he's not speaking.

"Left and up," Rina murmurs.

A nod, and then Flint does make with getting a glass, and then crosses over to the refrigerator, retrieving juice and filling the cup in silence.

Kavi moves out of Flint's way, stepping toward Rina as he does. "Stag," he repeats with a slight nod. "I. Well, she told me about Grain and Brook, too. A little. And now… Now I feel like I know less than I did, before."

Rina frowns over at Kavi.

Flint perches himself on the table, ignoring the chairs, and takes a long sip of the orange juice, tilting his head and watching Kavi.

Kavi frowns as well, and though there's a slight movement from his hand, he doesn't reach out to Rina. "I wanted… I need to know how to show Stag that I'm worthy, that… That he can trust me. But. When I talked to Rori— I'm not even sure that he's the right one, anymore."

Rina purses her lips in thought. "For… somethin' you wanted to learn, or…?"

Flint simply listens, half-emptying the glass of juice and then beginning to turn it in his hand.

Kavi draws in a breath and holds it for a beat before he nods. "I want… I need to learn Morgan's gift."

Rina's brow furrows. "Morgan's?"

Another tilt of his head, and the humming fully stops, before the cub simply looks at Kavi. Legs swing under the table.

Kavi's lower lip pulls between his teeth for a moment, and then he nods again. "The one— The healing one. The one she used when… When you were hurt? It's. It's a Fianna gift, and. Even if she wanted to, she might not be able to teach me. I need to prove to Stag that I'm worthy. That… That I'll make him proud, if he lets me learn it."

Rina lowers her eyes, brow furrowing a little as she puts cans away. "That shouldn't be hard for you," she says softly.

Flint drains the glass of orange juice, looking between the fridge and the sink, and then hops down off of the table. Thunk, feet hit the floor. Oops. The cub ducks his head, crossing over to the sink to rinse out his glass.

Kavi looks about to answer, but he breaks off to look to the cub, watching for a moment before he turns back to Rina. "I don't know," he says, with a shake of his head. "I. The only Fianna I really know is… Is Cole, and—" This time he swallows as he breaks off, and turns his gaze toward the computers at the other end of the room.

Rina winces slightly. "Yeah," she murmurs.

Kavi nods, though his back is turned and he can't see the wince. He moves across the room, reaching out with his mind to start one of the computers before he arrives. "Do you think," he starts, and then pauses as he turns to face the other two again. "Do you think he's a good example of what Stag wants?"

Slight confusion weighs on Flint's features as he puts away the now clean and dry glass, moving over to follow Kavi.

Rina bows her head. "Brian, you mean?"

Kavi glances to Flint, but most of his attention seems to remain on the kin. He watches her for a moment before he answers, and his voice is softer. "Yes."

Flint ends up perching on the table again, this time on the side facing the computers rather than the side facing the kitchen.

Rina gives a small shake of her head. "I don't know. He has… too much pride. But that… might be part of Stag, as well." She turns, to look to Kavi, her smile touched with enough intimacy and tenderness to maybe make Flint a little squicky. "A little more ego— a little more pride would maybe be good for you," she says quietly.

Kavi's gaze dips downward, and a subtle heat rises in his cheeks. It takes him a moment to recover, though there's a trace of a smile present, when he does. He touches the machine he started, though nothing more than a brush of his fingers over the top of the monitor. Expression turning thoughtful, he looks to Flint. "Has Mouse… Has anyone talked to you about the different spirits?"

In all maturity, Flint blatantly ignores the exchange between Kavi and Rina. Not quite 'la la la' but squinting and half plugging his fingers in his ears. However, that's entirely dropped at the question from Kavi, posture and expression turning attentive. "Outside of the teaching songs you sang," the boy says, shakes his head. "No…"

Rina returns to putting groceries away.

"I… You should ask Mouse. She can… She'll explain it better, than I can." Even as he speaks to the cub, Kavi's gaze remains on Rina. "Rori said. It's more than just Stag. Stag is the totem for the Fianna, but. She said he has different faces, and even. She said that I might not even want Stag, himself, but maybe Grain, or Brook."

"Invite me, too," Rina murmurs. "If she'll let me come."

Flint nods to what Kavi said, voicing quiet acknowledgement that he will ask, at some point.

Kavi blinks once, brow furrowing. "To learn about the spirits," he asks Rina.

Rina lifts a shoulder. "I don't like bein' ignorant."

Flint grins a little, though not at anyone. Legs swing under the table a bit more, and then the cub jumps down to the floor again. Ka-thunk.

Kavi shakes his head, the furrow in his brow deepening. For a moment, he just stands there, but then he crosses to Rina, glancing only briefly to the cub as he passes. "Anything," he says to her, reaching for her hand. "Anything you want to know. Ever. Anything."

Rina purses her lips in a wry half-smile, and she takes his hand briefly before turning back to start wiping down the counters.

Flint smiles a little despite himself, and the cub makes the same 'la la la I can't see/hear you' face that he made earlier.

Kavi holds Rina's hand for a moment longer than she intends, and even after she pulls away, he remains close. Another glance is sent toward the cub, before the galliard speaks, his voice just barely a whisper. "Come home? I… I'll sing you a song about the spirits."

The 'la la la' face continues, and the cub turns towards the door. "Goodnight Kavi-rhya, goodnight Rina," he calls out, pointedly.

Rina ducks her head, not quite hiding a smile as she finishes cleaning the counter.
