Some things.
If you want to talk, later.
12 March, 2012
The moon is in the waning Gibbous (Galliard) Moon phase (67% full).
The Theurge presses her lips together. "I see." There is no inflection, no judgement, though she doesn't sound entirely pleased by the revelation. "Well, done is done. Ain't exactly normal practice, though," she continues, fingers idly toying with her lip-ring.
The security cameras show Flint, grinning up at the door for a moment, before digging into his pockets and coming out with the key he uses to let himself quickly and relatively quietly into the lobby. Only after the door's shut behind him does Flint unzip the heavier jacket he's wearing, backpack slung on one shoulder, and pauses, another half-grin offered when his gaze settles on Kavi and Nieve. "Hey," the teenager calls out, overall relatively cheerful.
The glabro's elongated teeth catch at his lower lip, just for a second, and though he tips his head forward, it's to watch Nieve through that slightly different angle, and through the fall of his hair. "I think. I think Mouse and Jacinta did what was best." He swallows, opening his mouth to speak further, but the arrival of Flint spares him and he glances to the boy.
"Yeah. Always is at th 'time," Nieve acknowledges, then turns towards the door as well, finger-wiggle-waving a greeting at Flint, then lighting herself another smoke. "Hola chico."
The cheerfulness in Flint's tone pauses, drops, when he actually gets a look at the older Galliard, and then Flint drums his fingers against one knee for a moment, looking a little more carefully at Kavi and then walking over.
Other than the pallor, and obvious exhaustion, there are only a few small spots where blood has leaked through the bandages beneath to speak to the extent of Kavi's injuries. He offers Flint a small smile, and then turns back to Nieve. "It… We'll never know."
*Bing!* The elevator opens and disgorges Nick, who's looking mildly dustier than he did when he was in the lobby earlier. He steps into the lobby, looks around, and asks, "Mouse left?" It's almost like he's co-dependent.
"Thank you for tellin' me the story, anyway," Nieve murmurs to Kavi. "I'll come t'you when I need news again." She rises from her seat, puffing on her smoke, and finger-waves in Nick's direction. "She does that," the dreadlocked girl replies mildly. "Need help w'somethin'? I'm not busy."
Flint raises his brows at Kavi, once, and carefully lowers his backpack to the ground, about to take a seat across from Kavi when the elevator opens and Nick comes out. The kin gets a slight smile and wave from Flint. "Heya," he says, before continuing to sit down, a look at Kavi. "What…?" The single word trails off into what's probably a question. "Are. Is everything?"
Kavi watches Nieve as she rises, offering her a small nod. The ding of the elevator pulls his attention, and he adds to the theurge's answer. "She went upstairs. To rest. I. If you need something?" It takes a bit longer for the galliard to acknowledge Flint, but when he does, he answers with a simple nod. "It's okay."
"Is there a place where there might be some communal cleaning supplies? I don't feel too comfortable just snooping behind doors until I find what I'm looking for. Or, I could just go buy some." Nick looks from garou to garou, suddenly becoming self conscious of where he's at and who's nearby. "I'm not interrupting anything, I hope? I can leave. Shop. Anyone need anything?" He's shifted to placating behavior.
"Most everythin' is in the laundry room. There's a broom an' some new scourin' pads, an' also a mop," Nieve ventures, having put them there herself recently. "Just remember t'look for roaches first an' make sure they're out of harms way." She slouches into the laundry room then, coming out with the broom, which she hands to Nick. The mop, she keeps in her own hands, along with the plastic bucket it sits in. "Y'want help cleanin'?"
Flint looks over at Nik again, shakes his head. "Not. No, you're not," Flint ventures, before looking to Kavi. "Anything I can do?" the boy asks, concern written clearly on his face even if he's managed to keep it out of his voice.
Kavi shakes his head, first to Flint, and then again to Nick. "You don't— You're always welcome, here," he says, and with perhaps more effort than he'd really like to display, he rises. "You could… Rina could help? I mean help you understand? You could call her."
Nicodemus gestures towards the cleaning supplies with his right hand as Nieve brings the items from the other room. "Ah. Laundry room. Logical. Which is in there." A hint of nervousness. The hand makes another gesture towards the room, then both hands are used to collect the cleaning equipment being offered. He seems to have calmed himself down now, then just outright admits it. "Sorry. I'm a little jittery around garou I'm not very familiar with. And I'm unsure of your customs—other than it being extremely important to not harm the roaches and not piss anyone off. So I'm trying to tread very, very, very lightly."
"You're also prob'ly feelin' a little bit of the anger, with th' moon bein' so big still," Nieve ventures to Nicodemus. "Even kin feel it a bit sometimes when blood runs high." She retains the mop and bucket, ducking around the corner to fill the latter from the faucet there, adding a generous squidge of all-purpose cleaner to the water as well. "This for cleanin' out a new 'partment?"
Flint watches Kavi get up with another furrow of brow. "If I can," he says, quietly, not pushing the matter further. A nod to Nicodemus, and Flint doesn't quite change the subject as add something entirely unrelated, mostly directed to Kavi. "I. I went and. I talked to the Groundskeeper, earlier," Flint says, head tilted to the side.
Kavi gives Flint a slightly odd look, perhaps confused by something, but he nods to the boy before he looks to Nick again. "I. Wait a minute?" And then he also moves off—not to the Laundry room, but into the office.
"Mouse is letting me hole up on the third floor in a vacated apartment. It's just for a short while until I can get a new place," Nick claims, clearly indicating that he doesn't intend for this to be a permanent arrangement. "Or maybe until the current unpleasantness blows over." He nods to Kavi's request and waits.
"Third floor. Number?" Nieve asks, already beginning to head for the stairs with her half-full bucket and the mop standing in it. "Best bring th' broom, mop ain't gonna cut it alone."
Flint settles into the seat on the couch, digging into his backpack to come up with the sketchbook again, and it is to this that the cliath turns his attention to for the moment.
Kavi isn't gone too long, despite the slow pace he manages. When he returns, he has a small black object in on hand, and it's this that he brings to Nick. When he holds it out, it appears to be a simple clamshell style phone, with a biometric fingerprint scanner on the cover. "I made these," he says. "For kin. It's. It's a secure network. It'll call Mouse, or me. Or Rina. And. It'll call the other elders and kin, once you know them. If. If you want."
"First one on the right after exiting the elevator," Nick says to Nieve as he hustles into the laundry room to grab a broom, coming out as Kavi re-appears. He listens to the run-down on the device, raises both eyebrows at the explanation, and gingerly—as if holding something that might bite him, picks the phone up with thumb and middle finger—carefully to not touch the biometric pad. "Uh. Can I touch base with you about this thing later? I appreciated the thought, but I don't want to inadvertently do something stupid with it that pisses off the Glass Walkers or inadvertently causes the Glass Walkers embarrassment." He looks about ready to follow Nieve up the stairs, not about to let her go clean up the apartment he's responsible for, as if it might be beneath her.
"A'right." Nieve seems about to do just that, hauling the bucket upstairs, leaving the odd trickle of water in her wake as it sloshes.
Flint glances at Nicodemus a moment, but doesn't add anything to the conversation yet, turning the pages of the sketchbook slowly, back and forth.
Kavi nods to the man. "You don't need to worry," he says. "But I can explain it more, later. Or Mouse can. Or Rina."
Nicodemus points to Kavi. "Deal." He then hustles up the stairs after the fast-disappearing Nieve.
Kavi watches the others go, and wobbles a little where he stands.
Flint glances from Kavi and back to where Kavi had been standing. "Um." A pause, and Flint swallows. "Kavi-rhya, you should sit down." There is a faint moment of chewing on his lower lip as Flint makes the suggestion, and with Nieve and Nicodemus both gone up the stairs, Flint doesn't bother to keep the worry from his voice. "Please?"
Kavi turns to look to Flint then, and watches him without a clear reply. He glances toward the front door, and then returns to the other galliard. "I." He stops, and nods. "I'm going to go back upstairs. I'll be okay," he says. "I just. I just need to rest."
Flint nods, easing a little bit at Kavi's words. "Alright," the boy says, tentative but that's mostly worry. "Rest, yeah. I. I'll see you later, let me know if I. If I can do anything?"
Kavi nods again, and then starts toward the elevator. He leans against the wall while he waits for it to return, and looks across to Flint. "I'll. After Rina comes home, I'll be in the break room, for a while. If. If you want to talk about your project."
"Yeah, that would…" Flint trails off and nods, before pulling a pencil out of a pocket of his jacket and settling to turn to a new page in the sketchbook. "Sure." A smile is offered to the other Galliard before Flint bows his head and hunches slightly over the sketchbook, beginning to hum to himself as he draws.
