Catching up.

Meet me at the lake.

It is currently 18:49 Pacific Time on Tue Jun 19 2012.
The moon is in the waxing New (Ragabash) Moon phase (3% full).

Meet me at the lake.

It was a simple message, one of the few Ky's sent to his packmates since he'd disappeared into the fold of the gang. He's there now, waiting, staring at the water's surface. From the back he appears mostly unchanged, a little rougher around the edges after a couple of days, mostly in the form of rumpled clothes gone slightly dusty. Bruises discolor his face, reflected against the wavering lakefront in dark shadows that imply purples and reds and blues. He seems relaxed, for all that, hands in pockets, weight more on one foot than the other, the faint tease of pot smoke clinging to his clothing.

It takes a bit before Flint arrives, and the galliard looks tired, like he hasn't gotten nearly enough sleep lately. Then again, he hasn't, and he walks down the path, stifling a yawn before he gets too close to Ky. "Hey."

Alexandra's footsteps are quiet across the recently mowed grass as she steps off the walkway to cross over toward her packmates, arriving not long after Flint. She looks between the two of them and shakes her head. "How're you holding up?" she asks Ky, before telling Flint, "You look almost as rough as him."

Ky turns after Lex and Flint have arrived, grinning faintly. "I'm alright. I can't shift, even when I can get away long enough to. So I'm kind of useless there. Learning a little bit, though. With the gang."

Alexandra says, "Not exactly the kind of infiltration I'd expected us to be doing, but hopefully it works and whatever the weirdness Val sensed turns out to be worth it. I sure as hell couldn't have done it. I'd have frenzied on them, low moon or not."

Flint nods, and shakes his head to Alexandra. "I'm okay. Just. Not enough sleep," he says, before he quiets to listen to what Ky has to say.

"Getting in, joining the gang, seemed the best road to go," Ky answers with a slow shrug. "They found me while I was walking around behind the hide out, made sense after kicking the asses of two of their peons to try and make myself one of them. I haven't found anything solid yet, mostly just getting a feel for people, easing suspicions. They don't trust me completely yet."

Alexandra says, "Finally make Cliath among us, and you have to go right back to being like a cub again in some new group. But yeah, probably is the best way to find anything out. How messy is it going to be when it's time to get back out again, though?"

Flint grimaces, nods. "Take your time, be. Be careful," Flint says. "Better. Better you than me," there's a faint wry amusement, and he turns to Alexandra. "In any way, we'll. Manage it."

Ky grins wryly. "Something like that. Think I earned some kind of respect, I might have a small edge over some of those there, but I'm not pushing for anything." He nods at Flints warning, sobering a touch. "I'm careful. I cannot let them know that you two knows. Or anyone else. Or I'm as good as dead. Or worse. For getting out, we'll face that bridge when we come to it."

"You need anything," Flint says, "you reach out, and let Lex or me know. After all. After all, you're not alone in there, you can. You can reach us. If. If they notice you're distracted, write it off as. As daydreaming, or planning, or something. They. They shouldn't be able to tell that you're talking, to us, through the link."

Alexandra nods her agreement. "Yeah. One way or the other, we'll find a way to get anything you need to you. We have plenty of surprises that they shouldn't know a thing about. Given how deep you are in the gang, though, you want us to head into the sewers without you? I hope to do that bit of digging around sometime pretty soon. We can keep you in the loop on what we find via the link."

"Yeah," Ky answers without giving it too much thought. "In my room, I have a letter and a couple of maps. They were delivered by one of the homeless regulars near our place. Take a picture of it with your phone or something so we don't lose the originals, and be careful. I can get away if you guys are in trouble. Shouldn't be noticed, I'll play like I'm going out to deal more."

Flint grins at Ky. "I. I memorised the letter. And the maps," he says.

Alexandra says, "I'll give them a good look when I get back. Have you already shown them to Nik, since he was wanting to come with us, too?"

Ky shakes his head. "Not yet. Haven't seen him since we discussed things. Would you make sure he sees them?"

Flint tilts his head to the side, and nods.

Alexandra says, "Will do." She considers for a moment. "Since you're not going to need the rite from Nik right away…Flint, you think maybe you could teach him your gift for convincing people you're telling them the truth? That might make the difference between getting out of things peacefully and having to fight his way out." Looking back to Ky, then, she adds, "Assuming you'd be able to get away often enough to learn it, anyway?"

Ky rolls out a slow shrug. "I don't know. I could try, but if they start getting suspicious, it's over. If I have something to show for it, my wares being bought and cash coming in, I could possibly get away with it."

Flint snorts, quiet laughter. "Well the. Persuasion could. Could help with that, I." Pause. "I'd think. We'll. I'm learning Dedication from Kavi-rhya, right now. So after that."

Alexandra says, "Definitely a good one to have in the pack. Hopefully one of us gets Binding, eventually, but I imagine we've got a while on that one."

Ky nods. "Sure. If not, I'll keep doing what I'm doing 'cause it seems to be working." He pauses, shoulders rolling back a little. "Either've you wanna buy some stuff?"

The galliard shakes his head. "I'm broke," he informs Ky. "Well. Plus. Uck no. Cigarettes are. Are one thing, but."

Alexandra shakes her head. "Me neither. I think cigarettes are nasty enough. And the only money I have is the credit card my mom and dad gave me, anyway, so I can't even give you some cash to help make it look like you're selling it."

"It's not so bad," Ky asides, though the offer isn't pressed. He looks up at the sky, squinting a little. "Anyway. I should get back. Try and lighten my load along the way. Either of you know anyone who might be interested?"

"Cash, however," Flint says, pausing to think. "If it gets to that? I. I can call Mouse-rhya. She. There's some. For. For things like this, when. When it's important. In the mean time, I… You might try by. Um. The school. But. I'd… I would want to know if the stuff's tainted, or anything."

Alexandra shakes her head. "Can't say that I do. Keep safe, Ky."

"Not selling to regular kids," Kyler answers. "Far as I know the stuff is safe. I tried it, nothing out of the normal besides what it does normally." He grins slightly, then tips a nod at his packmates. "Later."

Flint shrugs his shoulders, nods, and then looks at Ky. "The. The clubs, then. But. Not near Temple," he states, and nods. "Be… be safe."
