Can't sleep.

No mood for joking.

25 November, 2012
The moon is in the waxing Gibbous (Galliard) Moon phase (76% full).

It is early-early on a fat moon, and Nieve is having trouble sleeping. Having anchored herself firmly with cigarettes and pizza, she's now trying to unwind on the spirit side, the Lucent Witness in one hand as a staff, while she takes measured paces around the fountain in her crinos form.

Apparently, she isn't the only person having trouble sleeping. It's early enough that the fountain is the reflection that Flint uses to reach across and into the Umbra, sitting on the edge of it, hands wrapped around his knees, and apparently coming to the park for one thing in search of some peace and solitude. The cliath looks like he's been run a little ragged, or like he hasn't slept recently, and he lifts a hand in a wave to Nieve.

~Requiem,~ Pirate Trader greets the cliath quietly, ears perking forward and tail swaying a little as he crosses over and makes his greeting. ~You also cannot sleep?~

Flint tilts his head up, looking at the theurge, and nods. "That's, the—" he sounds tense, too, beyond the usual tension of the moon, words forced out and hesitant and exhausted. "Pretty much. Can't sleep, but I'm not useful to Ky or. Or t-to Alexandra. Not like this. Couldn't stand being, indoors, anymore." There's a pause, and a deep breath. "Figured I'd come here. There… no vampires in the Umbra, after all."

~Speaking as the voice of experience, it sounds like you need a hug, followed by warm milk with a stiff dose of whiskey in,~ Nieve offers quietly, gripping the Lucent Witness in one hand and offering the other shaggy arm out for that hug. Apparently, she was serious.

The galliard tenses, looks up at Nieve, and nods, getting to his feet to move over to hug her. Tightly. Every muscle in the teen's body is still as tense as a coiled spring, and after a moment he goes still, almost pulling into himself. "We. Killed the leech that'd got Ky. But not until he'd. Again," Flint explains, barely audible.

Memory arrives on the wing, with an equally dark, if smaller shadow on her tail. The two black birds swoop and dive through the Umbral sky in a complicated game of tag. The larger bird is faster, but the smaller is slightly more agile, meaning that they are evenly matched. It's really rather difficult to tell which one is winning the game, or who is currently 'it'.

There is a two-armed crinos hug for Flint. Strong—not cracking bones strong, but triggering-oxytocin-release strong, at least. Hugging, it's medically proven to be good for you! Pirate-Trader snuffles his hair lightly, then lets go after a long moment. ~We will fix Ky,~ she promises.

The two black forms drop from the sky. The larger lands nearby and shifts into Val's familiar form, while the second lands on her shoulder a few heartbeats later. "Hey."

Flint smiles up at Nieve, weak mostly out of exhaustion rather than not believing. Clearly either he believes, or he desperately wants to. A little later, he moves to sit down nearby in the grass, laying back and simply being quiet in the peace of the umbral glade for a little, and that's when he spies the bird, watching Val shift and land. "Hey," Flint offers to her, before his attention turns back to the theurge. "I… I couldn't. Stay," he says, clearly troubled by this fact, guilt and tension and rage all colouring the words all at once. "I couldn't deal with. With Ky, going through it. Not right away. It's… I. It. Felt too much like, all my weaknesses out there, f-for. The world to see."

Ears perking as Val lands and shifts, Nieve offers a grave nod to the bird and her company. ~Friend of yours?~ she asks regarding the bird-on-shoulder, before huffing a reassuring sound at Flint. ~We will. We fixed you, we will fix him. There is no power that a mere leech can have, that will be more powerful than Gaia.~

Val lifts a hand and strokes the chest of the dark bird on her shoulder, who watches the pair of Garou with black beady eyes. The bird shifts, causing it's outline to blur a little, as miniature bolts of lightning dance between its indistinct feathers. "Yes. He's a friend of mine," she tells Pirate-Trader. "Tends to go by the name of Storms-Shadow." She looks over at Flint. "I'm sorry that I didn't do more with the Green Angels," she apologizes. "I'm the one that noticed that something was wrong with them in the first place and told Ky about it."

Flint props himself up on his elbows, but doesn't get up, or nod, and he shakes his head at Val. "Not your fault," he tells her. "It's kind of the sort of thing, a-and we were… just. In over our heads, and didn't realise. Until. And."

The Adren sniffs in Val's direction, rumbling approval. ~Stormcrow. Very useful,~ she notes, sitting down next to Flint. ~It is over now, Flint. Ky will be alright. I will go to him when the morning is not quite so -early-, and we will help him.~

Val stuffs her hands in to her pockets, as she offers Nieve a slightly quirky grin. "If you're planning on a Cleansing, I wouldn't mind helping with the Ritual." The Stormcrow leans forward on Val's shoulder and speaks in a deep rumbling voice, reminiscent of rolling thunder. ~Little-Firebrand is one of Thunder's chosen. He is strong.~

Flint nods, though none of the reassurance does anything for the lingering tension in the cliath's manner, or the air that he'd like to go out and find something else to kill. And then something else again. Deep breaths, that's what Flint does, for the moment, and then he nods again to Nieve. "We're set up at the. At the old Library," he says, leveraging back to lay down fully, again. "Basement, and such. It was, the. Only place that had, that. Would work. Not enough people at, the Vault."

~If you wish to flex your claws, there are plenty of banes just beyond the park,~ Nieve tells the cliath dryly, then cocks her head at Val. ~You did not need Flint to translate that?~ she asks, the bird having replied before Flint had gotten even halfway through the halting translation.

Val grins, perhaps a little smugly. ~Bit of a trick I learned while passing through Japan, a bit over a month ago,~ she says, switching to Mother's Tongue smoothly. ~Could teach it to you, if you'd like. Would let you speak your Tiger-Friend's language.~

Flint bares his teeth in half a smile, half frustration as though he'll get off and stalk off to go find some of them at the mere suggestion. "Yeah, but Lex needs me back sooner than that," is all he eventually says.

~Worth learning it just to be able to use the Mother's Tongue in human shape without ending up with a raw throat,~ Nieve ventures with a huff, then bobbing her head to the bird. ~I would like that, yes.~

Val grins, then runs a hand through her hair. "Hey, cool," she says, smoothly switching back to English. "It's called Courtly Speech and is a big thing in the Beast Courts, but it's a heck more common among the Tengu, then with the other Shifters. If only because we tend to have a knack with languages in general. Over there, it's mostly used as a means to be polite. So if you're delivering a message to a Khan, you can address him in his own language. Generally taught by a Crane Spirit, which are a heck of a lot easier to find out that way." She glances over at Flint. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

Flint grimaces, and snaps, "Magically make t-the moon smaller?" The sarcasm is evident in his voice, and then he looks vaguely apologetic towards Val, then looks away. "Er…" A pause, and then Flint's tone is less harsh, when he speaks again. "The pizza helped. See if, Lex needs anything… All that."

~Trust the Court of the Emerald Mother to put importance on courtesy rather than the practical application,~ Nieve rumbles, a low snort accompanying the sentiment. ~Go and sleep, Flint. Or go and relieve Alexandra. Then drink, and sleep.~

Val barks out a brief laugh when Flint snaps at her. "Well, I figured out how to visit the moon, but I'll let you know if I ever find a way to talk Luna in to moving through her cycles faster then is her want. And yea," she continues, looking back over at Nieve. "It is damn useful. Particularly for me. Makes talking with you folks a lot more convenient for me. Particularly when dealing with wolf-born."

Flint pushes halfway to sitting up, and then, sullenly, lays back down in the grass. On his side this time. "Couldn't sleep before," the cliath says, "but. Yeah." There's a grin at Val, and a nod. "Seems it would," the galliard remarks, halfway absently. None of the anger is directed at Val anymore, at least.

~I swear, I will find an epiphling of dream to bind into a talen for sleeping,~ Nieve threatens Flint mildly. ~One thing I do not miss about youth is being unable to sleep because of the day's events.~

Val hmms. "I was sleeping last night, before all the big booms woke me up. You guys are just lucky that I'd had a long day and had happened to fall asleep in my clothes," Val says, wagging a finger in Flint's direction. "Or there is no telling what state of dress I would have been in, when I went screaming out of my apartment to find out what the hell was blowing up."

That gets teeth bared in Val's direction, Flint's irritability easily set off by the slightest poking at this point. "Yeah well, we didn't. Plan, on blowing shit up. It just kind of happened, was what worked." There's that desire for violence in the cliath's voice, again, too, and he leans back with a sigh.

To Nieve, Flint adds, "I wish I could. I just. I can't sleep. Either, what's now, or. I start thinking about other stuff, and…"

~Alright, enough. Go, now. Even if you do not sleep, lay down in your bed with your eyes closed and listen to music. Your body will rest, even if your mind does not,~ Nieve instructs Flint firmly as the teeth come out, interceding before it becomes more than a baring of them. ~And Memories, you should know better than to tease a tense Garou on his moon.~ A gentle scolding for the bird, too, it seems.

"I do," Val admits, a hand lifting to rub at the bridge of her sizable nose, not sounding apologetic in the slightest. "But I still slip up now and again."

Flint outright glares at Val for a moment, even with Nieve's chastisement, before the galliard gets himself together and nods. "Not my bed, Nieve-rhya," he grumps, even as he starts to sort through his pockets for something. And then he grumps more as he gets to his feet. "Oh, right. Lex has it. Brilliant," Flint mutters, moving back over towards the fountain instead.

~Do not slip up again tonight, please. I am in no mood to be squashing a frenzying cliath,~ Nieve tells Val firmly. She watches Flint, a hint of sympathy in the cant of her ears and droop of her tail, but says nothing further.

Val can't quite keep the smirk off her face, as she nods in response to Nieve's words. Turning her head a bit, she murmurs to the bird on her shoulder, who takes to the Umbral skies and heads south.

Flint turns around and glares daggers at Val a moment longer, teeth bared, though it looks more like the threat of violence, than the threat of frenzy. "You joke about it," Flint says, the words slow, and level, and quiet, "and you joke about why my packmate is, currently locked in a basement, there's another vampire, r-running around the city, and we have no Caern right now, and I could go on. I won't." Clearly, he's in no mood for joking. And then the young Glass Walker calms himself, steadies his breathing, and crouches to peer into his reflection in the fountain.

~You take your life in your own hands, bird,~ Nieve rumbles a low warning, making a shooing motion at Flint. Only once the Cliath sidesteps does she settle back down by the fountain, Lucent Witness in hand.

Val visibly deflates as Flint snaps at her, smirk finally fading. "That's not exactly what I was joking about," she mutters, then huffs out a breath. "Was just asking Storm's-Shadow to keep an eye on Ky. He's not so powerful that he can cross the Gauntlet and affect things in the realm. But, he can cross over. Is little more then a ghost, or a shadow when he does, but it does allow him to keep an eye on things."

Flint has gotten at least part way through crossing over before Val gets to responding. It's possible he hears the Corax's words… and equally possible he doesn't, before he finally reaches all the way back to the realm.

~Even so. Your kind are known for their quick wit and intellect, it seems one is far outshadowing the other presently,~ Nieve rumbles at Val, closing her eyes and seeming inclined to meditate for a while.
