Topic might be a little uncomfortable for you

14 December, 2012
The moon is in the waxing New (Ragabash) Moon phase (10% full).

It's been one of Alexandra's days off—she hasn't been at the church in well over 24 hours, having made arrangements with Flint and others to cover her absence, though her explanations as for why she needed the time were vague at best. The time off, though, is at an end, and her footsteps echo on the stairs as she comes down. "Evening," she calls out in greeting.

Flint looks up at Alexandra from where he sits with a book. "Hey," the galliard responds, glancing over at Ky, and then back to Alexandra.

Ky has been keeping himself busy with his sketchbook. Though his demeanor has been anxious and irritable at best despite being in better spirits than he was just a week before. He makes a sound of greeting, while shaking hands try to work a pencil and put to paper whatever image is in his mind. His free hand rubs at his brow at times, or taps against the mattress he's sitting on.

Alexandra glances over to Flint. "I'm going to need to talk to Ky for a minute. Topic might be a little uncomfortable for you, though." She's not asking him to leave, and there's no hint that she'd prefer it, but she wants to make sure and give him the option.

Flint takes a breath, sets the book aside, and stubbornly doesn't move from where he's seated, and nods.

Ky looks at Flint, then Lex, pencil tapping against the edge of his sketchbook. "I hope there's an apology coming too," he states quietly, and with little weight behind it.

There is a short knock at the door at the top of the stairs. It doesn't open yet however, Nieve apparently happy to give the resident cliath pack a veneer of privacy.

Alexandra replies, "That depends on whether you have something to give me or not." She glances up at the sound of the knocking, but she gives Ky a chance to reply before saying anything.

Flint glances between Alexandra and Ky, and asks, very pointedly, very quietly. "One of you, care to. Tell me, w-what I'm missing here?" Tense too, for the new moon.

"You don't want to know," Kyler asides to Flint. "I'll give it to you, but not with him here." That part is directed at Lex, no less mild than before in strange contrast to his outward anxiety.

Nieve continues to wait on the other side of the door.

Alexandra asks, "Flint, would you see who that is? I know Elliot has been by at least once, and I'd rather not keep the alpha waiting if he's come by again." It's not quite asking him to leave, but it should give the two Shadow Lords a few moments of privacy.

Flint gets up, looking at Ky. "Even if I don't, I like secrets even less," Flint points out. "Not these." The words are hard-edged, having figured it out, before Flint gets up to go climb the stairs and open the door.

Ky makes a face at Flint, as if he'd just tasted something foul and rotten, but only after the Galliard has turned his back. It's rather childish, but it is the ragabash's moon. The look he turns onto Lex is even less pleasant, but at least he isn't sticking his tongue out at her or worse. Once he and his tribesmate have a moment without an extra set of eyes, he reaches into his back pocket and pulls out the vial he'd been given only yesterday, unopened still, but doesn't yet hand it over to the Ahroun.

"Requiem." Nieve greets her tribemate politely, glancing past him once greetings are done. "Is now a bad time?"

Alexandra glances back toward Nieve and Flint, then extends her hand to accept the vial once he's ready to hand it over. "Shall we get you off lockdown?"

"Nieve-rhya," Flint says, and then shrugs his shoulders. "Yes. No." There's a glance down the stairs, and Flint just leans against the stair-rail, very still.

Ky's hand tightens around the vial, still shaking even if he would will it not to. "I want to destroy this first," he states. "I want to put it in fire and destroy it completely. It's a nightmare that needs to be purged."

Tactfully, Nieve remains up at the top of the stairs, glancing away out of the room. "I'll come back later," she tells Flint, before moving away from the door.

Alexandra gives a sharp nod. "We can do that. There was a burn barrel up on the roof the last time I was there."

Flint shrugs his shoulders, and nods at Nieve. "'kay, seeya," the teen offers, and then looks down the stairs, towards Ky. "Burn it," he agrees quietly.

Ky looks past Lex to the door and where Nieve is, or was. But when Flint appears again, he jams his hand and the vial back into his pocket defensively. "Now?"

Alexandra says, "Better to do it now and be done with it, I'd say. He chose to stay."

"Now," Flint agrees, jaw set, chewing on his lower lip, very definite, though he doesn't enter the basement from the stairs again, but nor does he give his packmates the privacy of before, instead remaining a part of it, though with some distance given that he doesn't dare to cross towards Ky.

Ky climbs off the bunk and walks toward Lex. There's almost a challenge to it, the set of his jaw and his gaze remaining steady on his tribesmate. The vial, after Flint moves away, is produced again and held out for the Ahroun to take.

Alexandra meets his gaze, at least until he offers up the vial, at which point it gets her attention. She checks the level of the viscous crimson fluid within, as well as inspects the seal for any signs of tampering, the faintest hint of relief crossing her features and echoing on the packlink. It was clearly what she was hoping—and expecting—to see, but still: trust, but verify. She doesn't seem overly inclined to speak as they head up the stairs to the roof and into the chill night air.

Flint jams his hands into his pockets and for a moment goes very still again, keeps his distance, but follows up to the roof as well.

Ky puts himself somewhere between Flint and Lex, following the Ahroun upstairs and to the roof in silence.

There's no fire in the barrel, but that's something that the Ahroun remedies in short order—months of living at Thunder Cave have honed her skills at fire-building, and the Gnawers have all the materials to build it near at hand. It's not until they have a big enough fire that Alexandra finally breaks her silence. "Would you prefer to be the one to do it?" she asks Ky.

"Do I get to go home after this," Ky answers the question with a question. He steps close to the burn barrel enough to feel the heat coming off it. He stares at the flames for a long moment, then looks back at Lex.

Alexandra says, "Yeah, you get to go home. If anyone takes issue with it, they can come see me, but I think this should dispel any doubts."

Ky keeps a steady gaze on Lex while he extends a hand to her. The tremors remain, having nothing to do with the cold. "I'd like to do it."

Alexandra offers him the vial, and assuming he'll allow it after the last 24 hours she's put him through, moves to stand beside him afterward, resting a hand on his shoulder.

Flint simply stands back, hands jammed into his pockets, gaze on the sky until the vial is visible again, and then on it. Regardless of that, Flint doesn't move towards his packmates, rooted near the exit onto the roof.

Ky carefully takes the vial, as if it might bite him if he weren't wary. Slowly his fingers curl around it, tighter until the plastic might crack under the pressure. It still takes another long moment before he actually holds his hand out to the fire, over the fire. Nearly in the flames that lick up the sides of the barrel and claw at the air, burning flesh. But he drops it, the vial leaves his grasp and drops into the waiting flames, open palm remaining held in the fire for another couple of seconds before he lets it fall to his side. Then, the ragabash looks back at Lex and Flint, giving the pair a small, slight nod.

Alexandra breathes a small sigh of relief as the vial heats and breaks, its contents turning black as it burns away. She returns his nod, then asks, "Ready to get out of here?"

Flint glances at Ky and Alexandra. "See you two. It's dark, so…" Unspoken, that Flint'll head back to the tenement in daylight, when he can. Gaze darts to the floor, and he moves to go back down the stairs.
