Merry Christmas.
24 December, 2012
The moon is in the waxing Gibbous (Galliard) Moon phase (77% full).
Only when he gets word from both of his packmates does Flint actually come down to the lobby, ready and waiting to let them in. At the couch, the galliard's got a plate with about half a pizza worth of cheese slices, a can of coke, and a half pack of cigarettes. One's lit in his mouth, doing only a little to alleviate how grumpy and irritable he's been all afternoon. Someone's put a few holiday-ish things around the lobby, but Flint pays little heed, just moves over to the door to let both Alexandra and Ky in, mustering a hint of what might be a grin for them.
Alexandra glances down at the pizza, then offers up some turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy in a tupperware container for Flint. It's still warm, although it might need to be reheated a bit if he was still hungry. Ky would have gotten his back at the Vault, before they came by. "Mom and Dad packed these up for you, since I wasn't sure if the Walkers were doing a Christmas meal or not."
Ky sticks his fist out to Flint for bumping when he steps inside the tenement building. "It's pretty good food," he proclaims. "I might call it delicious, but I'm still partial to Laila's cooking."
Flint nods to Alexandra, and takes the container carefully. "Thanks, we. Yeah. Not really. I'm on duty, rest of tonight," he explains, wandering back towards the couch. A plate is produced to put atop the pizza and cover it for the moment, the Christmas dinner food container set next to it, and then Flint pulls a lighter from his pocket to relight the cigarette. "Merry Christmas, you two." Flint then points to two packages that look like they've been wrapped in cut up plain paper bags.
Alexandra grins, moving over to take the package with her name on it before moving over to take a seat on the couch, setting her backpack on floor in front of the couch, though she doesn't open it—or the package from Flint—up just yet. "Have to say, I don't envy your tribe their monitor duty, even if it is a good thing to have a secure place to come to."
Ky follows after Lex, though before he picks up his gift he hands Flint a paper that's folded in half. "Given the crazy in the city, it wouldn't be a bad idea to look into stepping up our own holdings security," he points out. "But watching cameras all day? No thanks."
The Walker perches on the edge of the couch where he can keep an eye on the monitors, not too far from Lex, and then unfolds the paper carefully. Ky gets a bright grin, and Flint very carefully sets the drawing down on the table away from any of the food or what could soil it. Someone's got mood-swings tonight, overall. "'s not bad. There are enough people here, to, and all."
Alexandra reaches down into her bag. While she doesn't produce any boxes, she does come out with two cards in envelopes, and both envelopes have a small bulge visible, indicating something more than just a card inside, and she offers one to each of them.
Alexandra pages: Pretty standard greeting card, but also a military style coin. On the one side, an image of a falcon in flight, and judging by the coloration, it's meant to be Bigwing. On the other, a circuit board pattern, with lightning around the edges.
Ky gives Lex a questioning look as he takes the proffered envelope. He turns it around in his hand before carefully opening it. He takes out the coin inside, turning it over in his hand while reading the card. "Thank you, Lex."
Flint as well takes the envelope, opening it and the card, and then the coin. There's a nod, and then another nod, more encouraging with a jerk of his head towards the packages. Few words, even as Flint carefully reaches into his pocket to pull out a piece of quartz, then put the coin and the quartz inside.
Alexandra smiles as the two of them open their cards, then turns her attention to the package from Flint. She lifts up the medallion within. "Oh, wow." It quickly gets put on the leather cord that was also included and put on around her neck after she's had a chance to admire it a bit. "Thank you, Flint."
Ky opens the box, paper set aside, and pulls out the medallion from inside. "Thanks, Flint," he echoes with a grin, turning the trinket around to examine it as carefully as he had the coin.
Flint produces from his pocket, briefly, a matching wood medallion, though it gets put away as fast. "You're welcome," he offers quietly. Then there's a tired sigh, and Flint leans back, half-off the couch and one knee hooked for balance. "Thanks, guys."
Alexandra leans over to give as much of a hug to Flint as she can with him hanging halfway off the couch. "My other present to both of you is a little more practical, and less Christmasy. I got us each a super soaker—because I figure if we load it with salt water, it'll help make dealing with the slugs in the sewers a lot easier, and we can concentrate our efforts on the rats."
"Awesome," Ky grins as he speaks. "That'll definitely be useful. I haven't talked to Lefty-rhya recently, but she wanted to be involved in the thing with the rats as much as she could be. Tribe thing, you know. Gnawers, rats." He shrugs, offhanded.
Lex gets a hug back—or at least as much as Flint can while hanging halfway off the couch, a position that he doesn't seem inclined to give up any time soon. He's careful not to blow any smoke towards his packmates though, instead blowing a thin trail up into the air to drift towards the ceiling. "Neat. That'll… that'll be good. Sooner we get it dealt with. And go back, check nests we already dealt with. Make sure, they're not back." Flint pauses. "That much he was right, as. Much as…" Which devolves quickly from words into a muttered, ill-natured grumble.
Alexandra says, "The more the merrier, as far as I'm concerned. If Lefty and the other Gnawers can get some helpful Rat-mojo working, that much the better. Oh, and I offered your friend the Wendigo the chance to go with us at least once, Ky. Sam was looking for a chance to earn a bit of glory."
Ky smirks slightly, amused. "Sound fine to me. She's pretty raw as far as I can tell on how to do things, but if she can follow direction from any one of us, then like you said. The more the merrier."
Flint glances between his packmates, and nods. "Never met her," Flint offers, though he's got the distinct tone of 'not impressed' somewhere in there. "And long as she doesn't do… anything stupid, follows direction, doesn't… get herself killed. Listens." Flint offers this in agreement after the others have spoken.
Alexandra says, "I think she'll be fine. Like you said, pretty raw, but hitting a rat nest is dangerous enough to be good experience without throwing her in over her head."
Ky nods. "Bring her in then, soon. We can meet together and hash out a rough plan. Too much changes once we're in there to follow it to the letter, but we should have goals while we're inside so all four or five of us are on the same page."
Alexandra says, "Given the size of the one that stays in the nest—the mother rat?—my hope is to have two to three other Garou with us to deal with the smaller rats and free us up to deal with the big one, since that's where we're at our strongest."
Flint nods once more, as well. "I… good," is what he eventually settles on saying, sitting upright only long enough to grab his soda, then leaning back again. It looks awkward. "Not let the big one, get away again."
There's a pause and Flint adds. "By the. By the way. I. Earlier, might have… I. Probably should apologise when the, moon's smaller." Flint glances at both his packmates, then puffs on the cigarette. "Knocked the asshole on his ass." Pause. "Not on purpose, but then I left."
Ky shrugs, unconcerned. "Things happen, Flint. No worries, unless you think you're in danger." He nudges Lex in the shoulder. "I'm going to head home. You staying for a bit or want to walk back with me?"
Flint offers Ky a faint half-smile, and shakes his head, then takes a deep breath. "No. Just that. I didn't want it to, affect… your guyses interactions. It reflects on, all of us, that I. And it was kinda a dick thing to do, given."
Alexandra replies, "I'll head back with you. Benny gets up at the crack of dawn on Christmas, and so I'll have an early morning tomorrow. Not going to stay as long as I normally would, given the moon, but am at least going to go by for a little bit. And I don't think there's any worries on that front from him—if there is, we'll deal with it."
Ky starts to say something more to Flint, but lets Lex fill in instead. "We'll see you around, Flint," is what he ends on, leading the way to the door.
