Packing with Shadow Lords. This should be interesting.
17 May, 2012
The moon is in the waning Crescent (Theurge) Moon phase (20% full).
It's late enough in the evening now that there aren't very many people remaining in the park, and certainly not in the outdoor areas. Alexandra is an exception to that, having claimed a spot on one of the benches where one can sit and observe the waterfall. Assuming Ky was at the Vault, she'd have invited him along with her, otherwise he'd have gotten the same voicemail that Flint did requesting a meeting to discuss matters related to packing.
Ky, with nowhere else to be but at the Vault, he'd agreed to go along. He doesn't get out much anyway. And while Lex sits on a bench, he's taken up a spot on the grass, a notebook of plain white paper resting on his knees. His head is cradled in one hand while a pencil carefully works lines into some formation. They're doodles, really, comic style artwork that occasionally toes the line into realism.
It takes a bit of time for Flint to one, get the voicemail, and two, get over there, though he sent a quick text message to let Alexandra know he's on his way. He makes his way over towards them with a wave, a little lost in his own thoughts still, though watching where he's going well enough not to bump into anyone.
Once Flint arrives, Alexandra gets up to give him a quick hug by way of greeting. She's clearly in a good mood, though she still keeps her voice low enough to make sure it doesn't carry beyond the three of them, "First things first: allow me to present to you the latest Cliath of the Shadow Lords, as of a few days ago now." She pauses for a moment to let that sink in, and then says, "And that means that the three of us have things to discuss."
Ky glances up when Flint approaches, but it isn't until after Lex has hugged the Walker that he stands and gives a small grin to the Galliard. His notebook is fiddled with a thumb brushing over the open pages before he flips the cover closed, pencil tapped against the spine then jammed into a pocket.
Flint grins back at Ky. "Congratulations, Ky," Flint offers, sincere. "And yeah, I think we just may." A hand is waved to Ky, and Lex, in a gesture for the two Shadow Lords to sit down, as Flint sinks to sit cross-legged on the grass.
Alexandra resumes her spot on the bench, though angled now toward Flint and Ky rather than the waterfall. Her first question is directed at Flint, "None of the city packs claim this place, do they?"
"Thank you," Ky answers, tipping his head with thanks toward the Galliard. He settles on the grass again, hesitating slightly before opening his notebook and retrieving his pencil. "I think the park is owned by someone," he says, though the question isn't directed at him.
Flint glances between the two and shakes his head. "Definitely owned by, by someone. Not territory though, I…" Flint shrugs. "I don't…" another shake of his head. "Anyway." The galliard pulls out his iPhone, taps out a message, putting it away again.
Alexandra says "Well, yeah, it's private park, not a public one, but unless that someone is one of us, that doesn't mean very much for our purposes." She shrugs. "Doesn't matter too much, really. I just like the place. Territory is less important than a purpose, and that's what I really want to talk to the two of you about. I think we make a good team. But we don't have a Theurge, so we're going to be at a disadvantage in the Umbra, and a group of Cliath aren't going to be heavy hitters in a fight, either. But maybe something oriented more toward scouting and relaying information?"
"No, I mean it's owned by someone." Ky doesn't look up from his drawings, this one appearing to evolve into a cat of some sort. "Not claimed like we would, but… The way Edgewood is owned." His pencil pauses in mid line, then nods to Lex's idea. "I like that."
Flint nods once, leaning back on his hands, and glancing towards Ky's drawing for a moment. "I think that suits, it… it works well for. For us," Flint says, quiet.
Alexandra says "So we know what we want to do, then, and we want to do it both in the city and the woods. So I think the big question that's left is whether we want to go on a quest for a specific spirit, or whether we want to quest a spirit that finds us most suitable. Personally, I'm inclined to go with the second choice."
Ky nods slowly, though it's ill timed to be in response to Lex's words. "I like that idea, though you know we might be chosen by a more questionable totem. You two okay with that?"
Flint drums his fingers on his knee to something that only he can hear, even though he's just as obviously listening to the other two speak, and when Ky speaks, Flint gets very distant for a moment. "Yes," he says aloud, though not to either Shadow Lord. "Yes I…" And then there's a frustrated snarl and furrow of brow. 'Shutupshutupshutup,' he grumbles under his breath, and looks up. "I'm fine with, with it. It's more important that, I. That we get chosen by a totem that is, a good fit for us. Questionable be damned." Another pause. "Speaking of. Lex, Ky… you both should meet Kavi-rhya at. At some point. Please?"
Alexandra glances between the two of them. It sometimes feels as though she's the only person who doesn't have voices in her head. "Exactly. And if it's questionable in such a way that we don't think it would make a good fit for us, then we still have the option to say no and try again. Which leads in to the question of who we ask to perform the rite for us. I don't know of anyone who has it off the top of my head." A short pause before she changes the subject to respond to Flint's request. "As for the meeting, just give me a call when it's a good time for him, and I'll head that way."
Ky starts to say something, again without looking up, but even the drawing he's been working on is paused. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his phone, frowning slightly. "Same for me," he says aloud, pushing the phone back into his pocket. "Meeting Kavi, I mean. I'll see you both later." Standing, he closes his notebook and heads for the park gates, pausing to turn back and wave before he's too far. Then, he's off.
Flint waves at Ky as the ragabash wanders off, then turns back to Alexandra. "Norman-rhya has it," the Walker says. "The. The rite. Mouse-rhya does, but she. She's still out of town, so we go find Norman." Brow furrows, and there's another moment of muttering 'shut up', before Flint raises a hand to rub at his forehead.
Alexandra likewise offers a wave of farewell to Ky as the Ragabash makes his exit. To the comment about Norman, she just nods, looking a touch concerned even though she knows the cause. "Rough night?" she asks.
Flint lifts his shoulders in a bit of a shrug. "Yeah. Kinda. Two weeks from, from the end date for the memorial," Flint says. "Haven't been out, outside the workshop much, lately." Not that that should come as a surprise to Alexandra, at all. And then Flint looks in the direction that Ky went off in. "They," and Flint taps his forehead, "kinda loud. Not happy about… not that I, not that I care if the dead Garou in my head, if. Approve of who I choose to pack with. But. It's, more." Likely because Ky's Shadow Lord breeding is more evident.
Alexandra chuckles faintly, leaning over to clap his shoulder. "Good thing they've had more time to get used to me. Or get resigned to me, as the case may be. And once you finish the memorial, you're getting dragged out for a night on the town. Which probably just involves going and catching a movie or something, but hey."
Flint grins a little, reassured perhaps. "They'll. Get used to Ky, too," Flint says. "It's… Kavi-rhya and Mouse-rhya that I'm not so sure of." Nonetheless, despite the importance that is obviously placed on the approval of his elders, the topic is not lingered on. "I… I. I need to check. with people about you and, and other people getting to see, once it's done," Flint muses.
Alexandra nods. "Hopefully they'll get used to us both, too. And yeah, I'd like to see it, if it's not something that's only for the tribe. If it is, though, I understand."
Flint nods. "It. I don't really quite know," he says, pushing to his feet. "Anyway I. I should get home, before too late." Flint gives Lex a half-hug with one arm, other arm re-shouldering his backpack and such. "You should, too."
Alexandra nods her agreement. "Yeah. I'll walk back with you, at least the first part of the way." After that, of course, they'll have to split off to head back to their respective homes.
